Who has what it takes to be the next American 1 Teen Idol?
The top 10 performers compete for a $2,000 savings bond & trip to an American Idol audition city. American 1 Teen Idol takes place at the Riverwalk Amphitheater in downtown Jackson on Friday, July 10 starting at 6 p.m. Each contestant is required to raise $250 which will be donated to Jackson School of the Arts and a charity of the winner’s choice.
This year, 10 talented teens include:
- Caitlyn Cubberly (Battle Creek)
- Olivia Hale (Jackson)
- Taylor Hawkins (Jackson)
- Teeshlee Hawkins (Jackson)
- TR Krupa (Jackson)
- Bridgette Powell (Jackson)
- Kelly Preston (Jackson)
- Tony Smith (Parma)
- Nicole Suchman (Onsted)
- Shannon Watts (Jackson)
Three judges will rate the competitors on the basis of overall talent, stage presence, mass appeal, and level of presentation.
Bring the whole family to see this spectacular display of local teen talent. Don't forget to bring your chairs or blankets to sit comfortable on the amphitheatre lawn. Bring your cheering voices, too - each contestant will face a friendly competition for loudest cheering section.
Parking is available at the Consumers Energy headquarters parking structures for free after 5 p.m. There are also parking spaces in downtown Jackson on Michigan Ave. and Cortland St.
American 1's Teen Idol has a track record of rewarding talented singers. Past performers have auditioned in front of Fox’s “American Idol” judges.
